Via ferrata, Sky Ladder and a dome night

Day one runs along Ringedalsvatnet and up the cabled cliff, Sky Ladder included, to a dome camp and an evening at Trolltunga; day two is the morning light and the walk out. It's the fullest trip Trolltunga Active sells, and on GetYourGuide it comes as a private group, so you climb with your own people.

Via Ferrata, Sky Ladder & Dome Night

About this experience

This joins the via ferrata day to the dome night. You meet at 10:30 at the base in Skjeggedal and walk for about an hour along Ringedalsvatnet. Then a steep 1 km path leads to the foot of the via ferrata, where you get the safety talk and clip in.

The operator's page allows about two hours for the climb, Sky Ladder included, then a short walk to the Arctic Domes. You leave your bag, have a drink, and hike on to Trolltunga for the evening view. Dinner is back at the dome. In the morning there's coffee, or a second trip to the rock with the guide, then breakfast and the hike out on the main trail. You're back between 14:00 and 15:00, with a ride from P3 to P2 if the weather allows.

The trade-offs. It's rated Advanced, and climbing is slow, so cold hands are a risk in wet weather: bring grippy gloves. The domes are basic, with a drop toilet and no showers or electricity. GetYourGuide sells it as a private group, so check whether the price you see is per person or per group when you pick a date. Ages 15 and up, no knee problems, and expect the day climb's 40 to 120 kg harness range to apply.
